If you've received the following message:

E_ACT_NOT_READY

This error message occurs when there is an issue with the authorisation of the Box of Books reader. In order to fix this issue you must deauthorise the reader and then authorise it again.

In some instances, the Reader can have issues deauthorising and can present an error message (i.e. “Unable to Erase Authorisation. Please try after some time.”). In these cases, you’ll need to manually delete the authorisation file. These are the ‘Alternative’ methods listed below.

Deauthorising & Reauthorising Reader (Mac)

  1. Open the Box of Books Reader
  2. Hold Command-Shift-D to deauthorise the Reader
  3. Enter your school email and Bobby Pin and press continue.
  4. Select ‘Really Sign Out’
  5. Reopen the Box of Books Reader, and sign-in again with your school email and Bobby Pin.

Deauthorising & Reauthorising Reader (Windows)

  1. Open the Box of Books Reader
  2. Go to ‘Edit’ then ‘Deauthorize App’
  3. A message pops-up advising it was successful
  4. Reopen the Box of Books Reader and go to 'Edit' and 'Authorise App'
  5. Enter your school email and Bobby Pin and sign-in.

Deauthorising & Reauthorising Reader (iOS)

  1. Uninstall the Box of Books Reader from your device.
  2. Power off the device for 30-60 seconds.
  3. Power back on your device.
  4. Reinstall the Box of Books Reader Application from the App Store.

Alternative Method: De-authorising Reader (Mac)

  1. Ensure that the Reader is closed.
  2. Navigate to Finder on your Mac.
  3. At the top menu click on ‘Go’ then ‘Go to Folder’.
  4. A pop-up will appear; enter ~/Library/Application Support/Box of Books
  5. Press ‘Go’, you should see a file titled ‘activation.dat’, delete it.
  6. Reopen the Box of Books Reader, and sign-in again with your school email and Bobby Pin.

Alternative Method: De-authorising Reader (Windows)

Note: The following actions requires you to modify the Windows registry. The registry contains important information about your system, installed applications and more. Before modification, ensure you create a backup should you delete the wrong folder/file(s).

  1. Choose ‘Start’ and select ‘Run’ 
  2. Enter ‘regedit’ in the text field and press ‘Enter’
  3. Registry Editor will open, locate the following: KHEY_CURRENT_USERS\Software\Box of Books\A\Activation
  4. Right-click on the ‘Activation’ folder and select ‘Delete’
  5. Close the Registry Editor.
  6. Reopen the Box of Books Reader and go to 'Edit' and 'Authorise App'
  7. Enter your school email and Bobby Pin and sign-in.
